Bel Canto Duo was founded in 2016 by Grammy-nominated cellist & looping artist David Downing & Darci Griffith Gamerl, producer, composer & oboist/English hornist.The classical crossover duo provide a rich tapestry of sound with looping stations and effects, with a variety of selections from original works, to classical favorites, film, TV & opera. Customized arrangements are available upon request.
BCD facilitates community and connection by offering performances that are accessible to all. Their Summer Concert Series - now in its 4th season, provides free monthly concerts throughout the summer. The duo is equally comfortable on the concert stage for high profile events or on the street performing for festivals, conferences, museum openings, art galleries & private events.
Awards include Outstanding New Artist from the Omaha Entertainment Awards, Nebraska Wedding Day's Best of 2023 & finalists for the American Prize in composition & the Ernst Bacon Award for the performance of American Music . The duo has written for film, documentaries, art installations & more.
