Against the lush, sweeping views of Petal and Thorn Flower Farm, a sunny scene unfolds with a stylish 70’s flair. A contemporary perspective and abundant raw florals elevate the aesthetics of the beloved decade into sun-dappled wedding day inspiration. A collaborative affair, this editorial design workshop led by Ashley Fox Designs allowed for the caring hands of local students to craft an aspirational imagined celebration.

“I wanted the workshop ceremony installation to feel like it was sprung up from the setting,” Fox reflects. Intentional use of grasses served as the core of the lush palette with seasonal orange marigolds, hydrangea and fever view thoughtfully balanced for a golden-hour vibe. The combination of the organic florals set against the scenery resulted in an effortlessly enchanting ceremony space. “The installation set perfectly into the magical landscape of Petal and Thorn Flower Farm's property between their trees with a view of the rolling hillsides,” says Fox.

Adding a contemporary element, the bridal styling of a simple strapless gown, trendy scarf and lace-trimmed veil enhances the charming dreaminess of the sun-soaked space. A long, soft ribbons hangs from the playful bouquet, exuding a raw elegance. One can imagine a soft breeze carrying the scent of warm earth and catching on her billowing veil, evocative of the quiet, private moments before the celebrations of the day ensue.

A single table stands out of the verdant grounds, the meadow seeming to sprout up through the center of the table in a texturally rich combination of local flora. Elevating the organic ambiance, vintage-inspired menus featuring illustrations of marigolds sit atop refined place settings. An assisting palette of sage green and bone white allows the bold blooms to shine, while smokey glassware and blown glass votives tied the 70’s feel back into the reception scene with the help of a rattan.
