Summer Southwestern-Style Wedding at Joslyn Castle

Bohemian details were a tribute to the couple's home in New Mexico.

Kassi Nelson and Matt Foote knew about each other long before they met in person. Kassi heard about Matt through one of her colleagues in the TV newsroom who wanted to set up her husband’s pal—Matt—with a “good girl” (that would be Kassi). They tried to set up a double date, but their schedules didn’t cooperate. Meanwhile, Matt saw Kassi reporting on TV, and after eight months of watching her on the news, he worked up the courage to DM her. Breaking news: It worked! On Matt’s birthday a year and a half later, the two were exploring a new-to-them dive bar near Kassi’s family’s lake house when she said, “This would be a perfect place for an engagement party!” Within the hour, Matt had dropped to one knee. Her assent prompted rounds of free drinks (and unsolicited marriage advice). Their summer Southwestern-style wedding welcomed guests with a Champagne wall as they entered the outdoor ceremony site. The couple paid homage to their home in New Mexico with florals in terra cotta pots and a bohemian rug as the aisle. The celebration flowed indoors, with a floral installation above the main table and warm lighting illuminating the venue.
