Now that the majority of our save-the-dates have been mailed and received, I wanted to share them with you all here!
Of course, save-the-dates are totally optional, but it will give your guests a chance to know your wedding-day plans in advance. Since Brian and I are getting married during the summer, we know that between vacation plans and busy schedules, sending a save-the-date will hopefully increase the chances of more guests being able to attend our celebration.
A good rule to follow is to mail this sneak peek six months prior to your wedding date. This will give anyone needing to travel to the occasion time to book travel arrangements. The information you will want to include does not have to have all the specifics listed – you will still have a formal invitation that will include more details closer to the wedding date. You should simply include your names, the date, general location (i.e., Lincoln, Nebraska) and a note that a formal invitation will follow. This is a great time to include your wedding website URL to direct guests to hotel room block and registry information, but this is not necessary.
It was so much fun to design this preview to fit our wedding-day style, using my friend’s design company. Since these are less formal, you definitely do not need to match your save-the-date design with your overall wedding stationary. However, I really wanted to keep everything coordinated, using colors, fonts, photos and logos that will hopefully build excitement and give our guests a preview of the designs that will be displayed on the big day!
