I try to do two wedding-related tasks per week. And I try to make one of those things an “absolutely have to do” and the other something that’s more fun. For instance, this week I am working on selecting groom/groomsmen attire. I think you can guess that has been the not-so-fun thing. I already know we won’t be doing the traditional tux, as I would like something a bit more casual and comfortable. (And when I say I would like, I mean that they would like too!). The bridesmaids will be wearing a Bill Levkoff dresses similar to below but in chocolate brown, and since that is a difficult color to match exactly, I want to go with mocha or tan as the suit color. I would love something similar to the male model below.
For the ties, I’m considering having everyone in a paisley design of some sort so we can incorporate our other wedding color—mustard yellow. But I’ve also seen in the pages of NWD and elsewhere the look of each groomsman wearing a tie in a different shade of the same color family. I can’t decide if that’s “cool” or just me trying to be different for the sake of being different? I also don’t know if there are even that many shades of brown to go around!
In general, my only hesitation in doing something more trendy than traditional is that I can’t necessarily see the ring bearers pulling off this type of look. We’ll have three little guys—two of which are 2 years old and the other is 5. I’ll have to keep thinking about what to have them wear. And yet another thing to think about is asking the guys to rent or to buy the suit. It seems like there are just so many tux shops in Omaha running great deals right now! You can see why I need something fun to do after all of this.
