I met with Hy-Vee this week to discuss just that and I couldn’t be more excited about the plan we put together. Sneak peek: heart-shaped sugar cookies, cream-cheese-frosted pumpkin bars and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Um, yum! Decadent, yes, but expensive, no. That’s actually the best part. In helping plan friends’ weddings, I’ve seen them spend upward of $700+ on their cakes. We’re doing dessert our way for less than half of that! It won’t look exactly like what is below, but it will be a pretty similar set up.
However, as much as I love a good cookie, I still don’t want to miss out on smashing a small slice of cake into Matt’s face. Talk about a great photo op! So I’m going to ask my grandma, who is known for her cake-making abilities, to make a small one- or two-tiered round cake to put on display in the middle with a fun topper. We’ll cut it just for us – and then of course freeze to eat on our one year anniversary. And speaking of a fun cake topper, I feel like that’ll just be the beginning of the ways to bring our personalities into this display. I was thinking about having a sign made to sit on an easel next to the table that reads “Love is Sweet” or hang a pennant sign with some clever saying. I’m getting excited (and hungry) just thinking about all the possibilities!
