I eluded to it last time…it’s that time in the planning process for me to start thinking about what song I want Matt & I to dance to first as husband and wife (btw: soooo weird to think those words, let alone see them in print). Initially, I wanted us to polka dance to “In Heaven There is no Beer,” but Matt vetoed that, saying he wants to save the polka songs for the entire family later in the night. Obviously, that’s a big, fat excuse to get himself out of the potential embarrassment of that dance—but I still conceded. Hey, if a guy actually has an opinion/input on something, you have to use it, right?! So now I’m thinking I want to do something kind of cheesy. Yes, we’ll just be slow dancing, but I wouldn’t say we take ourselves all that seriously, so I’m at least leaning toward a 80s ballad or just something with corny lyrics.
A working list so far:
Chicago—“You’re My Inspiration” or “We Can Last Forever”
Journey—“Open Arms”
Berlin (from the Top Gun soundtrack)—“Take My Breath Away”
Bryan Adams—“Everything I Do, I Do it for You”
LeAnn Rimes—“How Do I Live”
Edwin McCain—“I’ll Be”
Debby Boone—“You Light Up My Life”
Dan Hill—“Sometimes When We Touch”
Anybody have any songs to throw into contention? Any we don’t use for our first dance are still in consideration for use in our slideshow, so I’d certainly love to hear everybody’s suggestions.
