My mission: to find a venue to accommodate approximately 50 people for approximately $1,000 in West Omaha.
I’ll preface the fact that The Digz sand volleyball courts was my first choice for my rehearsal dinner by saying it was where my fiancé Matt and I met. I’m big on nostalgia (not the mention the fact that the room rental there is only $300) but unfortunately, they will still have Fall leagues playing the Friday night we will need it. So I’m back to the drawing board. In keeping with my desire to book a place that means something to us, I’ve brainstormed a few other options:
- Pacific Springs Golf Course: I took up golf the first summer after meeting Matt and this is where we both play in golf league. The view would be great, and the food there is really good too!
- Biaggi’s: This is where Matt fell as much in love with bread dipped in olive oil as I always have been. Plus, the party room is HUGE!
- Movie Theatre: Our first date was to see The Simpsons movie, something that has come up several times since – like he’s given me Marge socks as a present before, etc. So it’s not as lame as it sounds. I think I might really call 20 Grand this weekend to see how much a party room would cost. Of course, the Ak-Sar-Ben Cinema or Cine Dine theatres would be really cool, but with our church being in Northwest Omaha, maybe not the best places geographically speaking.
This is just a starter list for me, and I encourage all other brides-to-be out there to make their own and compare prices for at least three places. And whether you’re plan is to mount an internet search of restaurants by zip code or scour he pages of the most recent copy of Nebraska Wedding Day magazine, let your life together guide your list for rehearsal dinner spots. Even if we don’t end up at any of the places above, it was a fun dinner-table conversation for Matt and I to have— reminiscing with each other always keeps the reasons we’re getting married at the forefront of our minds!
