Last week, I shared a little bit about how Drew and I narrowed down our destination venue for the wedding, but we also had to pick a venue in Omaha for our reception after the destination wedding. Regardless of the destination wedding, this step was something many other couples have to think about and the things we considered and procedures we followed felt no different than for traditional weddings.
My biggest piece of advice for any bride and groom choosing a venue is to first figure out what you want your reception to look like. Whether your wedding is full of rustic charm, is casual chic or hosted in a beautiful ballroom, you can find a venue that will fit. Also, knowing the approximate size of the guest list is important because most venues cannot accommodate an unlimited number of guests. After that, it’s narrowing down your search and looking at details and pictures online. In Nebraska Wedding Day magazine and on their website, you will find a great guide to venues in Nebraska, with information on price range, location, number of guests each can accommodate and more. I found this SUPER useful because there were just so many venues we had never even heard of before!
As I’ve mentioned, Drew and I wanted a casual, laid-back, fun and modern reception in Omaha. We collected information via email from about five to six venues, then visited our top two and ultimately selected The Old Mattress Factory!
