The inspiration for both our destination wedding and reception in Omaha has been to take advantage of the natural elements at both venues. In Mexico, we will have minimal decorations because the beach and the views will be the backdrop! I will be making the bridesmaids bouquets and putting them in vases on each table as a centerpiece. We will get small tea light candles to provide some soft flickering lights at night.
For our reception in Omaha, we will be including more decor items but will still be sticking with the natural theme. The reception will be held at The Old Mattress Factory, which has various wood elements inside with large beams and an industrial feel, so my plan is to accentuate that aesthetic with our decor. The styling will be minimal, but I am thinking cement vases, gold terrariums with succulents or small candles & blue mason jars to start tying in our colors. I have purchased several of these items and just plan to style a few on each table. In addition, we are having a few wooden projects being made to hold donuts and as a place to put small plants.
With all that you must think about with wedding planning, decorations can be a difficult additional task - so make it easy on yourself and take advantage of your natural surroundings. Try not to be so particular about how each centerpiece will look, but rather just bring several elements you love together at each table. And be sure to ask for help from bridesmaids or family who may be more creative or can just bring another eye to the process.
