When it came to selecting bridesmaid dresses, it was important that I consider both the cost and finding something that was a little different. Since my bridesmaids would also be paying to travel and stay in Mexico for five nights, having something affordable was best. Also, because of the non-traditional setting of a destination wedding, trying to find something that fit our beach theme was important.
Most brides probably consider cost and are hoping to find dresses that are a little different. Unfortunately, finding something unique while at an affordable cost can be a challenge. Most bridal party attire can cost at least $200, which was more than I wanted my bridesmaids to spend - so I had to get a little creative! I checked the usual places, but I also started thinking outside the box and looking at reliable online stores*, not necessarily always searching for a typical bridesmaid dress. Who’s to say it has to be labeled or intended for a bridesmaid? If I found a bridesmaids dress online that was a little different, but not quite what I was looking for, I still checked out the associated link. You never know what else the online store might carry.
I ended up finding dresses that fit my vision and bought them while the website was running a site-wide discount - so I got them for $65 each!
* While online stores can be great, be cautious before purchasing to avoid fraud! If you are ordering from an online vendor, check for reviews of the company elsewhere, carefully read the return policy and see if someone you know has heard of the business before! I ordered from an online store I had shopped at before, and I ordered just one dress so that I could inspect the quality before ordering the dresses for the whole bridal party.
A NOTE FROM NWD EDITORS: Don’t forget that local bridal boutiques can be a great resource to find stunning and affordable bridesmaids dresses, in addition to bridal gowns, and can help you find a beautiful collection of dresses for any style!
