We are about six months from the big day and all I can think is how quickly it’s going to sneak up on me! With the holidays and the end of the year quickly approaching, I know after no time at all our destination wedding will be here! So, as the year winds down I’ve been taking this time to check in on my wedding planning. Not to mention, it’s nice to think about our travels to tropical Mexico during these cold weather months!
Some things I’ve been doing include:
- Checking in on the budget! I’ve tried to keep good spending logs and adjust my budget as we go, but I recently sat down to do this in detail. I compared our transactions to my spending log to make sure I’d caught it all and kept good notes. I also reviewed the budget I set at the beginning to make sure the estimates still worked.
- Reviewing the guest list. Our destination wedding guest list is set at this point, but our guest list for the Omaha reception needed to be reviewed. We made this list months ago so I reviewed our list and sent them out to my mom and dad to go over again as well.
- Adding reminders to my calendar. As silly as it sounds, it eases my mind to add things like “hair color,” “haircut” or other beauty appointments to my calendar - I will want to start scheduling these appointments about two months before we leave.
- Checking my wedding timeline to make sure I’m not forgetting anything.
- Start planning dates for bridal showers and my bachelorette party.
Lastly, I’ve been looking forward and thinking about what comes next. Soon we will have to start looking for groom and groomsmen apparel, start thinking about decor for our wedding and reception, start making our DIY decor for the reception and much more. I feel better if I’m prepared and ready for what’s coming up, especially as a new year is upon us!
