Let’s face it, flowers are one of the biggest components of almost any wedding and with good reason. They make a room feel anything from brighter, to more cheery, to romantic or soft. Flowers can really set the mood and make a space feel lovely. They are a part of nearly every wedding in some way or another, but they often require a lot of planning and coordination. There are a number of details in which flowers play a role:
- Bouquets
- Boutonnieres
- Hair Accessories
- Ceremony Decor
- Aisle runners
- Reception Centerpieces
- Reception Decor
Coordination and careful planning is essential for all floral elements to feel cohesive. I believe they should complement your wedding colors, but not perfectly match them. They should also be something you love and reflects your style. You only pick a few wedding colors and flowers can bring in so many more colors. Because we have chosen brighter colors of aqua, navy with accents of gold and light mauve/lavender, I like the combination of white and pale pink flowers. The white will provide balance, but the pale pink warms it up. We plan to use this combination for our ceremony and reception decor.
I think, however, having a destination wedding allows you to have a little more fun with color. With a Caribbean wedding and a tropical environment, I feel we can play with bright colors a little more than we could at home. Also, we want to embrace our surroundings and Mexico is a bright vibrant country - it only seems fitting to include pieces that reflect the natural flora in our wedding.
