Bride Blogger Casey - Guest Comfort

Considering how many weddings most guests attend throughout the summer season, it's only right to thank them for their dedication to take time out of their busy schedules to help you celebrate your big day - no matter how thrilled they are to see you get hitched!

Here are a few ways to make sure your guests feel extra welcome at your event:

  1. WELCOME BAGS FOR OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS. I highlighted this topic in an older blog post, but I love the idea so much that I wanted to reiterate it in this post. Guests who travel a long way to attend your wedding would be thrilled to find a thoughtful welcome bag full of goodies that incorporate information about the travel destination and yummy local snacks or treats.
  2. DANCING SHOES. Heels are always in style and you know that most of your gal pals will show up dressed to the nines in their finest stilettos, but heaven knows that after a cocktail or two, your buds will want to ditch their pumps for a more dance-friendly option. Rather than opt for a bare-footed dance session (unless, of course, bohemian is your thing), consider providing some inexpensive flip-flops and placing them near the dance floor with a cute sign welcoming your lady guests to ditch their heels for some "dancing shoes."
  3. SOBER 'SISTERS' AND 'BROS.' My fiance and I are forgoing a party bus for a sober bus. You won't be able to patrol everyone's decisions at the end of the night, but the least you can do is offer a safe ride home to anyone who needs to travel. If your reception takes place in a hotel, you've already got this covered! However, event spaces without interconnected hotels increase the risk of intoxicated guests getting behind the wheel in their attempt to go home at the end of the night. If a sober bus isn't in the budget, display the phone numbers of local taxi services in frames near the bar. This adds an appealing aesthetic to a responsible decision.
  4. RSVP SONG REQUEST CARDS. What better way to make your guests feel at home than by giving them the opportunity to jam out to their favorite music at your reception? Adding a "song request" line to your RSVP card is the perfect way to get your guests excited about contributing to your big day.
  5. JAZZ UP THE KIDS' TABLE. Use board games as centerpieces to keep the wee ones occupied and allow for their parents to kick back and enjoy the rest of the reception. I'd also be willing to bet that the adults will be joining in the fun by the end of the night as well!
