Finding my "something blue" has been the trickiest part of honoring the old wedding tradition, "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." Since my colors are emerald, gold and ivory, including a blue statement piece would clash with my wedding-day ensemble. I knew it would be necessary to think outside of the box for this project.
I love the idea of having a handkerchief embroidered in blue to hold onto through the ceremony. I'm sentimental and I already know tissues will be a must! Why not include something practical that can also serve as a memento from the big day?
Blue garters and undergarments are popular options for brides who find it difficult to incorporate blue into their overall look. A simple search for "blue bridal garters" will show endless results!
And finally, one of the sweetest ideas that I've seen is a hidden blue heart sewn into the bottom layer of fabric on your dress. This can take on a sentimental tone simply by making the heart out of the fabric worn by a loved one, such as the shirt of a grandparent or parent who cannot be with you that day.
