A couple weekends ago when I was home my fiancé and I were able to taste some of the cupcakes we will have at our reception. I am generally not a huge cake fan so I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed this task! To be honest, the cupcakes were not a big priority for me when it came to wedding planning, but I know how much some of the guests look forward to this. My mom found a local lady, Deb Overleese, who makes cupcakes as a side hobby. The first round she made us ten different flavors of cupcakes! All three of my brothers happened to be home at the same time, so Kane and I would take a bite, try it, and my brothers would finish the rest—they were definitely a hit!! Since we were going to be home again the next weekend for a wedding Deb agreed to remake 5 of the flavors we really liked so we could try them one final time before making a decision.
Kane and I did ask her to make a couple changes with the frostings and she was more than happy to work with us so we had exactly what we wanted. After much deliberation we finally decided on four different flavors to offer our guests: triple chocolate, lemon chiffon, red velvet, and carrot cake. Since my wedding colors are richer colors I decided to forgo colored frosting and instead use colored liners for our cupcakes. This will still allow me to make signs to display what colored lining goes with which cupcake so guests know exactly what they are getting.
I am slowly getting down to the wire on many of my wedding related tasks and now I realize what people mean when they say the day will be here before you know it! Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend!
