bride blogger dani: the dress

Spotlight

I checked one of my major ‘to-dos’ off my checklist recently: the dress! I knew there was only one place I wanted to shop for my dress, the Bridal Isle in Loomis (about 15 miles northwest of Holdrege). Even though it would have been convient to get my dress here in town, it was defiantley worth the drive to Loomis. Anytime I have been in the store I have received exceptional customer service, and they literally have rows upon rows of beautiful gowns. The first time looking for a gown  I went with my mom and grandma to see what type of style I was looking for. My consultant Courtney was awesome to work with! She listened to what styles I had in mind, pulled some dresses, helped me get in and out of them, and offered advice on my veil and accessories. She didn’t even look twice when I stayed in my dress for a good 30 minutes or when my mom was pulling more dresses off the racks. All in all, I tried on six dresses, and knew I had found my dress by the 3rd one. It is from the Mori Lee collection and is everything I wanted. Since I was still aways out from the 1 year mark, I went back last month to try it on again and purchase it. I can not wait till it comes in and I actually get to put it on again.

There were a couple things I realized when I went dress shopping:

1)      Take pictures- I tore out tons of pictures from magazines, and tried on a ton of different styles. Even though most of them looked awful on me I didn’t have to worry about the regret of not trying everything.

2)      Don’t make any rash decisions- I went in March and found my dress, but waited until late August to actually purchase it. I didn’t want to buy anything and then have second thoughts of wanting a different dress. By waiting it gave me time to really think over my decision and and reassured me that this was really the one.

3)      Do not bring a ton of people- If you are a people pleaser like me, it is hard to listen to everyones opinion. This is one choice you have to make only for you.

I am keeping my gown a secret until August—I don’t want my fiance to see it until then, so I will leave you with a couple photos of the dresses I tried on.
