bride blogger dani: flowers

Spotlight

This weekend Kane and I went home to complete some of our bigger wedding tasks. Saturday we met with Joy from Joy's Floral to discuss the flowers we will be using on our wedding day. I have spent the last couple months scouring Pinterest and the Internet for inspiration. I wanted a flower that would hold up well in the August heat—I have heard horror stories about bride’s flowers being wilted by the time the ceremony is ready to start—and finally decided on carnations. This is the photo I shared with Joy on how I want my bouquet to look. I like the fullness of the flowers—and have decided to stick with all white carnations.

1. Bride's Bouquet Since my bridesmaid dresses are teal, I wanted to play off the eggplant color I am using throughout the rest of the day. I wanted mostly eggplant carnations, a teal carnation, and green mums. Hopefully this will pull all the colors together.

2. Bridesmaid Bouquet Instead of using greenery on the bouquets (which I am not a huge fan of) I have decided to incorporate peacock feathers. At first I was afraid that this might be a little over the top, but Joy assured me that it would be a subtle touch. I plan on doing the same for mine, expect using white feathers, kind of like the photo below.

3. Feathers Working with Joy’s Floral made deciding what kind of flowers I wanted for the day easy and she really listened to what I had in mind. The entire process was extremely simple—even my fiancé made a comment on how he thought it was ‘stress-free’. The biggest piece of advice I can give to brides is to go in with an open mind. Bring along a list and photo of some of your favorite flowers, but allow your florist to play around—who knows what they can come up with!

Hope everyone has a great week!
