After Kane and I got engaged I tried to wait as long as possible to make any plans so I could enjoy just being engaged…but I only lasted a week until I couldn’t stand it anymore!! The first major decision we made was where we wanted to start our new lives together. We have chosen to get married in Minden (my hometown), at the United Methodist Church. What makes this even more special is the fact that Kane’s parents were married in this church 30 years ago!
Since Kane is in law school, getting married during the school year was out of the question. We decided on August 11th, since it would allow us a couple extra months in the summer where Kane wouldn’t be bombarded with school, and would be able to help with any last minute decisions and projects. As you could probably tell from the inspiration board I shared last week, we are using purples, greens, and blues for our colors.
Minden has a couple different options for receptions, and even though the Minden Opera House was at the top of my list (absolutely GORGEOUS for any of you central Nebraska brides out there) I knew it would not be the most feasible location with the size of our guest list. Instead, we will have our reception at the Ag Pavilion on the Kearney County fairgrounds. What makes me excited about this is the fact that it is a big open room, allowing me to decorate and set-up any way I want. I already have so many ideas and can’t wait to sort out exactly what I want!
Maybe some paper lanterns over the dance floor
What a great backdrop for the head table!

Now that I have some of the logistics set up for our big day I can’t wait to start planning all the fun stuff!
