bride blogger dani: reception decor

Spotlight

Remember a couple weeks ago when I said I felt like I was at a standstill with my wedding planning? Well that is not the case anymore! The last week has been filled with appointments, errands, and checking items off my to do list! The biggest one was meeting with Fran at Platinum Event and Wedding Rental.  I had originally met with Fran back in September and we had laid out some preliminary plans for how I wanted to decorate my receptions hall.

This past meeting was about getting a better idea of what I wanted at my reception. After getting the table linens and cake table figured out, Fran helped my mom and I decide on what kind of centerpieces we wanted on the tables. Fran shared that the rule of thumb when decorating is to do everything in threes, so we picked out a high centerpiece, a medium, and a lower centerpiece to alternate on tables. After much deliberation we finally settled on three of them and I could not be happier!

My tall center piece, I decided to incorporate the peacock feathers with my tall vase. The silver twirl sticks will be in an eggplant color instead of the silver.

My medium centerpieces will look something like this—I am currently in the process of trying to find something green to use in the bottom.

Fran was amazing to work with and I have the utmost confidence that with her help getting everything decorated and in its right spot for our reception it will look amazing.

Fran answered every question I had, listened to my vision for the day, and stayed within the budget I had allotted for reception décor.  Fran was also so knowledgeable about so many things I would have never thought about. For example, when discussing what I wanted to decorate my head table with she asked how I would be seating my wedding party. I thought the bridesmaid were always on one side, with the groomsmen on the other. Apparently, it is proper etiquette for those at the head table to alternate seating—boy, girl, boy, girl…you learn something new every day!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and have a safe New Year! See you in 2012!!!
