My fiancé and I both had MLK day off last week so he came with me to run some wedding related errands. I had to pick up my bridesmaid dress that had come in for my best friend’s wedding in June and try to find something for my ladies to wear (which I talked about here) so I told Kane that I could go do that and pick him up later. He finally convinced me that he really wanted to come with, but after we were at the dress shop for about an hour I could tell he was regretting his decision :) What a sweet guy for enduring that!
After we were finished with the dress decisions, we went to start our registry at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Since it is nearly impossible for Kane and I to have a free day or night together and you better believe you wouldn’t catch me trying to do this during the weekend with all those shoppers, I figured this would be the perfect day. Before we left we made an inventory of everything we had now and separated it into items we have and don’t want to replace and items we need to replace. Since Kane and I recently merged households, most of our household is made up of items that we have had since our freshmen year of college! We met with the registry and bridal specialist at BBB and she was so helpful! They had so many helpful tips and made the registering process very quick and painless. I think every single employee we passed asked us how we were doing and if there was anything they could help us with—we were impressed!
Before Christmas we also started a registry at Younkers. When deciding where we wanted to register we looked at where the majority of our guests were from and what stores were located in those areas. Also, we talked to a couple of our friends about where they had registered and if they had any problems. We actually ended up changing our mind on one store after we heard about all the trouble someone had with the store’s return policy!
Trying to plan to a wedding, having my fiancé in law school, and working and going to school myself leaves very little time to spend with Kane. I was glad we finally had time to do a wedding task that involved just the two of us. We had a lot of laughs (like when Kane accidently dropped the scanner and we were convinced he had broken it) and fun imaging what our life will be like post-wedding. Even though it was something as simple as registering for gifts, it was nice to spend some time with him. It reminded me that even though both our schedules are hectic, we need to find time to spend with each, because it makes the whole process more enjoyable.
Have a good week!
