bride blogger dani: the traditions

Spotlight

I have been trying to get all the little details for our big day put together and finally have all of my ‘somethings’!

Something Old:

Great Grandma’s Watch: My uncle recently gifted me with this beautiful watch that was my maternal great grandma’s. It is absolutely beautiful (the blurry photo does not do it justice) and I had it engraved with a special message for the day I walk down the aisle.

Great Grandma’s Pendent: When I turned 16 my paternal great grandma gave me this pendent and a jewelry box given to her on her 50th wedding anniversary from my great grandpa. I have always known it is something that I will have with me on my wedding day and plan on attaching it to my bouquet.

I have been extremely fortunate in life that I grew up knowing and having relationships with my great grandparents, both having passed away three years ago within months of each other. Even though they won’t be there to share in my wedding day, it will be special having a part of them with me.

Something New:

My dress! Even though I can’t show you a photo, you can look at my post here to see some of the lovely dresses I tried on, but didn’t make the cut! Oh, and does a new last name count?!? :)

Something borrowed:

I am borrowing a string of pearls from my mom (given to her by my dad) to wear. My dress actually has pearl accents so these will go perfectly.

Something Blue:

This is the one that I had trouble deciding on. There are so many creative ideas out there—shoes, garters, getting my wedding date stitched into the bottom layer of my dress, and so many more! I finally decided on this after seeing this photo.

Blue Signatures

I plan on having my bridesmaids, mom, grandmas, etc. sign the bottom of my wedding shoes in blue permanent marker.  I like how one person mentioned in the thread (click on the link above) how these individuals played an important part in getting you to where you are now in life.

So far in my wedding planning these four little details are my favorite and mean so much to me. I’ve come to realize that it’s the small details, that often other guests won’t notice, that make the day unique and special to Kane and I. What have you used for your ‘somethings’? I would love to hear!!

Have a great week everyone!
