This past weekend was a big one for me - I really hunkered down to finish up some wedding details that I have been putting off for the past month. I ended putting a big check mark next to the task of selecting the invitation design! I have been working with a good family friend of ours, who's in the paper goods business, to design our invitations. It has been so much fun! I really didn't know how many things went into designing invitations, and to be totally honest, it was a little overwhelming at first! There were SO many decisions that had to be made:
- Do you want a monogram?
- What wording would you like to use?
- Do you want letterpress, engraved or raised lettering?
- Do you want backing or would you like to use thicker card stock?
Thankfully, she not only knew the theme and tone of the wedding, but she also knew my style. This made the decision process much easier! The invitation is the first thing your guests see - they set the tone for the wedding and give your guests an idea of what to expect. It's also important to have an invitation that is easy to read and understand. I never realized how hard it was to find a script font that had both a "J" and an "S" that was legible!
I can't wait to see a proof of our invitation and am so excited to send them out soon!
