bride blogger katie: invitations

Spotlight

Over the weekend, I was able to get our invitations printed, assembled, and even started addressing them thanks to the help of my mom, sister-in-law, and niece.  I'm really happy with how they turned out (the pictures below really don't do them justice)!  My mom and I found the invitation suite at Michael's.  I love this folding envelope design, which encases the invitation, with pockets to keep any enclosures together.  My only complaint with the invitation suite was that each invite (it was a package deal) only included 1 enclosure card, and there weren't any matching enclosure cards available to be purchased separately.

After purchasing a disc of wedding fonts from Hobby Lobby for about $15, I was able to do all of the design and layout myself, then took everything to Kinko's to be printed.  In addition to the RSVP card, I also wanted to have enclosures for hotel information and a map showing how to get from the church to the reception (especially since we'll have lots of out-of-town guests that may not be so familar with downtown Lincoln's one-way streets).  What I ended up doing was printing the map and hotel information on the same page (double-sided) on matching paper from Kinko's.  I made the map myself, following directions I found by doing a Google search.

This was a huge task to get checked-off of the never-ending list of things to get done.  Now, I just need to collect a few more addresses and they'll be on their way.  :)

As I write this week's blog post, I'm also simultaneously doing laundry, making sure I have everything covered to take a few days away from the office, and packing for a girls weekend in the Big Easy. One of my bridesmaids and I are flying out of Omaha on Wednesday to meet up with my Maid-of-Honor (flying from St. Louis) and my Matron-of-Honor, Bre, who is hosting all of us in New Orleans. A couple of other friends will be flying in on Thursday & Friday, then the bachelorette weekend will officially be underway!! Bre has a whole itinerary mapped out for us, with Saturday being the main event. Our morning will start with the Jazz Half Marathon & 5K (and the post-race party, of course!), she has a surprise dinner planned for us (it's a surprise because we don't know where she's planning to take us), then it'll be a night out on Bourbon Street. It's been about a year since I've seen Bre, even longer since I've seen my Maid-of-Honor, Breeana, and easily 5 or so years since we all got together at the same time. That's what I'm most looking forward to. Right now my adrenaline is pumping from anticipation, but I'm hoping I'll get some quality beauty sleep in between now and then, too. Stay tuned for pictures next in next week's post!

66 days to go!
