Before the photo booth became uber-popular for weddings in the US, it was already a hot business trend in Asian markets. A couple of summers ago, one of my BFFs (and my Maid-of-Honor) was living in Jeju, South Korea, where she was teaching English in an elementary school. I'd been studying abroad in China and couldn't pass up the chance to visit her and check out Jeju, too. As silly as it sounded to me at the time, she insisted that we'd have to make a trip to Photo Maru before I left so that I could have the South Korean photo booth experience. I had no idea what I was in for. Lighting, backdrops, bluescreen effects, tons-o-props, costumes, editing, and more... It was crazy-rediculous, but crazy-fun, too! Breeana may kill me for this, but I'm going to let you check out one of our final products (so you can fully appreciate the eccentricity, of course).
Ever since then, I've adored the idea of how much fun a photo booth could bring to a wedding. While, I'm not looking for a crazy Korean photo booth set-up, I would love to create something different than what is so often seen at weddings. Here are some designs for backdrops that have caught my eye - enjoy!
From theknottybride.com comes what I like to call the "Great Wall of Memories". My very first "real job" when I was in high school was working for a caterer in the Lincoln Station. I. LOVED. THAT. JOB. I got paid to be at a different party every night, sample wedding cakes from all of the bakers in town, and see hundreds of different ways that brides put together the details of their big day. One of my very favorite displays to see was framed wedding pictures of couples from the Bride's and Groom's familes - a totally sweet way to recognize and honor the love and commitment of other couples you admire. I just think this is such a cool design for blending together that type of display with an interactive set-up for your photo booth, too!
Another unique design idea that I found came from smilebooth.com (which, sadly, we don't have in NE as of now). Obviously, this is a very, very different feel from the photo frame wall, but I love this type of design, too. It definitely sets the tone for "party"!
So, all of you other brides-to-be out there - let's hear about your plans & ideas for photo booths! Will you be doing one at your wedding? Any must-have props or poses??
