I may be dragging my feet a little with the bigger wedding plans, such as selecting and booking vendors, but I have been keeping busy with working on some of the other details that will go into the big day.
One of those details has been who to have walking me down the aisle. Because my dad passed away almost 10 years ago, that has been one of the most common questions I've been asked (right behind "Have you set the date?", "What are your colors?", and "Who is in your wedding party?"). I'd decided to have both my step-dad and brother give me away, then recruited my niece to help me with creating cards for each of them, asking them to fill this very important role. The two cards are a little different, but below is a picture (though it was hard to photograph!) of how my step-dad's turned out. We had a family bbq on Father's Day and that was the perfect time to ask.
I have another little top-secret project in the works for my bridesmaids. I've spoken to each of them about being in the wedding, but because all of them live at least several hours away (if not several states away), I've been wanting to send something special to "officially" ask them. So, here's my question to you for the week - did you do something unique to ask your VIPs to be a part of your big day? Or, have you yourself been asked by way of a special gesture? I'd love to hear about your stories & ideas!
185 days to go!
