Probably the hardest part about wedding planning for me is getting phone calls made. I am not a very accessible person by phone during business hours. Luckily for me, my fiancé is & he's more than happy to help. :) I have to say, I think we have a pretty good system worked out - we make a list of people & vendors to contact, he makes the phone calls and starts the initial conversations, then has any additional information e-mailed to us. We set up a new e-mail address to use primarily for wedding planning & it has really helped with keeping organized (especially when you give out your e-mail address at bridal shows).
Jerad left about a week and a half ago to start harvest in California, so (outside of phone calls) the majority of the planning is up to me at this point. Even though he's been on the road, he's been able to get our guest room blocks finalized. We'll have a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn (where we're having the reception) & another block set up at another hotel outside of downtown to give our guests some options.
Many of our guests will be coming from out of town, so talking guest rooms has gotten me to start thinking about welcome bags that could go in their rooms as a nice little surprise to show our appreciation for making the trip. Of course, there are the essential items to include such as a map, bottled water, snacks, individual packets of aspirin, etc. Some other fun ideas I've thought about including are: a top-10 list of our favorite Lincoln places & things to do, a scavenger hunt, and a pre-addressed mailer with a cd for guests to send back wedding pictures they take. Are you planning to do something similar for your guests? I'd love to hear other ideas you have for welcome bags!
