When it came time for me to "propose" to my bridesmaids, I realized it was going to be a challenge to ask just four to be included in our big day. That’s when I decided to designate each person to a special role as a "VIP to the Bride-To-Be." I wanted to include all of my closest friends in ways they’ll shine brightest because of their talents and skills.
So not only did I ask four lovely ladies to be my bridesmaids, but I also asked my friend who went to school for music to be our Director of Music, my blogger friend to be our Social Media Concierge, my counselor friend to be the Pep Talk Extraordinaire, my dancer friend to be the Dance Party Diva, my photographer friend to be our Candid Moment Guru and my speaker friend to be the Director of Vows. This might sound silly to you, but it was important to me to have those who have made a big difference in my life by my side the whole day.
I made t-shirts (saying Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid or VIP to the Bride-To-Be), tied a navy ribbon around them, wrote them up a love letter and popped the question. It gave me chills to see how everyone reacted to the fact that I took time to consider how we could highlight their strengths on our wedding day. To me, this year or so of planning should be an opportunity to connect everyone together… have wine tasting nights, go look at decorations, attend bridal fairs and have a movie night to watch Bridesmaids! It's the perfect time to go have FUN with your girls!
