The untamed beauty of northwestern Nebraska has a romance all its own, and a wedding at Galyen Barns in Hay Springs is not only enhanced by that beauty but also reflects the nostalgic mood of the Wild West. Native wildflowers, earth tones of tan and brown with sky-blue accompaniments and the homey ambience of a family farm will make this a wedding to remember.

| Beauty in the Bouquet | “I wanted to capture the nostalgia of a simple life inspired by nature and one’s immediate surroundings,” says Deb Galyen. “I mostly chose naturally dried weeds, wildflowers and feathers for the floral element. I chose a bit of brighter blue pampas grass for a tiny hint of drama and flair.” A large, natural-colored thistle along with some dyed bunny tail grasses make up the groom’s boutonniere.
| Be Our Guests | Serving as table linens are serape blankets in blues and browns, bearing a design element that is a nod to the Native American culture in the vicinity. Renovated barns and other outbuildings have been transformed into reception and ceremony areas along with getting-ready rooms for bride and groom.
| Picture It | Delicate images of prairie grasses and other botanicals from the region enhance the stationery suite, bringing a little more outdoor flair to the wedding’s essence.
| Simply Sweet | Elegant in its simplicity, this three-tiered cake takes on special charm with the signature dried and dyed grasses and florals. The blues, browns and tans pick up the colors in the table linens, and centerpieces in glass bottles advance the day’s shabby-chic vibe.
| The Look of Love | Bride and groom share a tender moment as newlyweds. Her gown was chosen for its peasant design and the flirty little keyhole front. The scoop neck, short sleeves and ruched bodice add to her boho look, topped off by the perfect white hat with contrasting blue and brown ribbon. The groom brings Western flair to his ensemble with denim vest, black jeans and distinctive bolo tie.
| A Walk on the Wild | Side Galyen Barns, a fourth generation working family farm, is home to the Galyen family, who live a farm-to-table lifestyle. The space has been transformed by Deborah Galyen into a unique, rustic venue. Your wedding day activities might include a ride on a hay wagon, a few games of corn hole or a photo session by Grandpa’s antique pickup truck.
