Although Erika and Alex grew up only a short distance from one another, their paths had never crossed. That is until they finally met at a mutual friend's lake party. From friendship, romance blossomed and so their love story began. When planning his proposal, Alex covertly drew from Erika's "date idea" book so as not to draw suspicion. That evening, while strolling after dinner in downtown Omaha, Erika had stopped to snap a photo of the city skyline. Turning back around, she was completely surprised to find Alex down on one knee. Fast forward to their wedding day, Erika and Alex pulled off a romantic, tented wedding reception with a wedding style best described by the bride herself as classic chic with a slight hint of whimsical romance, beautifully captured by Jessica Blex Photography & Design.
FROM THE BRIDE: Our wedding day was a complete risk for a Nebraska summer, but it was a risk that paid off. The day started off in a bit of a panic, as it had stormed heavily the night before. With the tent and decorations being set up the night before, we were a bit concerned to say the least. It was a miracle to find only a few things damp and the tent still in tact. From there, the rest of the day was smooth sailing. We had the perfect summer day for a tent reception wedding full of games, food, drinks, cake, dancing and lots of celebrating! One of my favorite memories has to be the moment when I was opening the gift from my soon-to-be husband. The minute I started opening the gift I had tears welling up. He had gotten me a personalized bible with my new name engraved. It symbolized the start of our new life together!
