Sweet & Sentimental Wedding in DeWitt

Brian Hubbert first noticed Sydney Holtmeier in college while they were both on Doane University’s track team. After dating for months, Brian proposed to Sydney while visiting his parents’ house on the Platte River, a spot the family has enjoyed over the years. Sydney and Brian opted for a spring wedding to coincide with her graduation with a degree in physical therapy and Brian’s work as a fourth-grade school teacher. The bride chose subtle elements from nature and incorporated light, airy hues of blue and green. A barnwood sign labeled “Hubbert est. 2019” greeted guests for an especially personal touch, as the wood was salvaged from the Hubbert family farm. With friends and family from southeast Nebraska and Kearney, Sydney was excited to have the whole group together for the wedding day. “You forget how many amazing people you have in your life until they all show up at once on one day,” Sydney says. The bride chose a few time-honored traditions on her wedding day: She wore a veil borrowed from a friend and carried a handkerchief from her christening. Among all the nerves and excitement of the day, Sydney says that by noon, “I was just ready to see him. He and I were meant to get married.” After getting hitched without a hitch, Sydney and Brian couldn’t be happier with their special day. “There are so many people to thank for everything that they did,” Sydney says. “All Brian and I had to do was show up!”
