It's a given that we truly and deeply love weddings. We love seeing two people come together with their families and friends and start a life together. We love the details, we love the decor. But there are days like today when we are smitten and overwhelmed by the images on our screens. Sara and Ryan's wedding radiates love. Captured perfectly in every sense, Geoff Johnson allows us to be present in this day and we are so overjoyed to share it with you.
From the bride: Our family is very diverse; we've got a mix of Japanese-Hawaiian, Persian, Caucasian, Coastal, Midwestern, Christian and Muslim. We wanted a fun wedding in my hometown (I'm from Lincoln, Ryan's from Silicon Valley), where everyone would feel comfortable joining in and celebrating! We decided on Wilderness Ridge, and began with a Persian ceremony officiated by my uncle and then a Western ceremony officiated by Ryan's dad (who is a pastor). The reception was a blast. We had an amazing local DJ who knew nothing about Persian music, but was so organized and open--my dad's friend brought a laptop with a persian playlist, and he brought him upstage to seamlessly DJ together (at one point they started doing a couple's dance together, which was hilarious). We had a thousand cranes, which is a Japanese tradition, that Ryan and I, together with our family and even a few friends made, hanging around the dance floor. We knew everyone was having a good time when, at one point, the ENTIRE (even rather conservative people who don't usually dance) room was winding around the room in a conga line to some Persian song. One of the servers told my mom at the end that he'd seen a lot of weddings, and it was the most seamless cultural blend he'd ever witnessed. There was just so much love in the room, it's hard not to think of it as one of the best days of our lives.
