Real Wedding > Ellen + Ben

Real Wedding

What’s better than Girl Scout cookies?! So we all know and love these classic cookies, but this groom’s spin on cookie noshing was so extra, dishing up a first date to woo Ellen with Peanut Butter Patties, plus milk (of course), consumed joyfully on the front steps of the historic home of Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. SWOON! You had me at cookie. Fast forward 4+ years (and no doubt many Girl Scout cookies later) to Ben’s proposal. An avid writer, Ben lovingly compiled all his writings during their relationship and recorded them on an iPod. Ellen awoke to the happy surprise and after listening to her beloved’s personal recounting of their love story, he popped the question to his future bride (nighttime retainer, jamas and all). Despite living out of town, this couple felt it most important to be married in Ellen’s hometown of Omaha, which allowed them to incorporate meaningful elements into their wedding experience. In fact, they got married in the same church as Ellen’s folks (practically 35 years to the day), with Ellen wearing her great, great grandmother’s veil that all the generations before had worn. Ben and Ellen share “we felt that important events are made even more special with the warmth of the people, places, and memories that have brought us to this point.” This classic fall wedding embraced the thankfulness that comes with the season – with a wedding style full of happy, warm and familial vibes, they tapped into the bounty of seasonal fruits + vegetables intermixed with florals to create a true cornucopia of colors and textures in their decor. Carrying through to their culinary offerings, the couple's menu featured seasonal selections such as butternut squash soup and a medley of mini fruit pies - cherry, blueberry, and peach, OH MY! As they fondly reflect on their wedding day, Ellen and Ben are overwhelmed with a sense of warmth and gratitude. They recall, “It was an amazing culmination of having everyone you love with you, and an immense sense of gratitude and happiness for getting to experience it all as a couple.” Wise words of advice from this couple, “Take one moment during the day to stop, look around and reflect... It is one of the only days in your life when everyone you love is in the same room together. It is an amazing feeling.” Be sure to check out the video at the end of this post to experience Ellen and Ben's lovely wedding day through the amazing videography of Dundee Digital Wedding Films!
